Barber Applicants
To receive a Florida barber license, applicants must have completed 1,200 school hours and passed a licensing exam. If the state where you hold your license has requirements that are equal to or more intensive than Florida's, you may be eligible to receive a Florida license by endorsement without taking any additional classes or sitting for an exam, even if you originally took your original classes abroad.
To apply for an endorsement license, complete a full application at the Florida Barber's Board website.
To complete your endorsement license 4-hour HIV/AIDs training requirement, visit our Florida Online Cosmetology website to learn more.
If you have a current and active license in another state or country that is based on less than 1,200 school hours, you can attend any barbering school inside or outside of Florida to take the additional educational hours to qualify for endorsement.
If your license is based outside of the country, you will need to include an education evaluation from a credential evaluation service that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) when you apply for endorsement.
Apprenticeship licenses and apprenticeship education are not eligible for endorsement.
